Dr. S. Grant Smith, M.D.

“Your vision is precious. I can help protect it.”

Dr. Smith graduated Magna Cum Laude from LeTourneau College in Longview, Texas in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science Degree.

He attended Medical School at the Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha Nebraska, where he graduated in 1987 with his Doctorate of Medicine.

Dr. Smith completed his internship at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas. He was a fellow in corneal research at the University of Texas Medical School in San Antonio. Dr. Smith was in residence at the Louisiana State University Medical School in Shreveport, Louisiana. He graduated from medical school with honors and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Smith has been board certified since 1994.

Dr. Smith and his wife, Lisa, are raising their family in New Braunfels.

Dr. Joshua Levar, M.D.

Dr. Levar earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University, where he graduated as a President’s Endowed Scholar. He completed a Master’s degree in Clinical Research at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, with research presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology meeting.

He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Texas Tech University School of Medicine. Dr. Levar completed his surgical internship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and his ophthalmology residency at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago. His research in ophthalmic pharmacology was presented at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery meeting.

Dr. Levar is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Blake Herring, O.D.

Dr. Blake Herring is a board-certified therapeutic optometric glaucoma specialist with expertise in primary eye care, medical eye disease, and specialty contact lenses. He is dedicated to providing personalized, evidence-based care to help patients maintain clear, comfortable vision.

Dr. Herring earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry and completed undergraduate degrees in Biology and Chemistry at Texas Tech University.

Outside the exam room, Dr. Herring enjoys living an active lifestyle and spending quality time with friends, family, and his loyal Australian Shepherd Sam.
